In this online workshop, we’ll consider how to capture a time capsule of your life in a memoir. When writing your life stories, you must first consider your purpose. Is your intent to publish, to gain clarity on a certain era, or to share your personal history with loved ones? Then, which details do you choose with that purpose in mind? From there, we’ll look at techniques for researching your life like a journalist and connecting a specific time period to larger moments in history. You’ll begin to think about how to examine the vulnerabilities of your “characters” and present them fully and fairly on the page. You’ll also learn the potential consequences and responsibilities involved in bringing your memoir to life.
